Mother won’t let her homeless son and his kids stay with her; years later, she begs her to let them stay.

As many of us had to get used to the new normal after COVID-19 three years ago, in 2020, we went through some big changes.

A lot of people had to deal with homeschooling and hybrid work situations, which caused a lot of stress.

For example, this couple suffered a lot in 2020 when the wife had to quit her job to homeschool their three kids. The family lost a lot of money because of this.

Previous to this, the couple had relied on both of their incomes to help pay for things like rent and bills. But because the wife quit her job to take care of the kids, the five-person family could no longer pay their rent. Because of this, they asked to temporarily stay with the husband’s mother while they worked on getting their money together.

How did the family lose their home?
At first, the mother agreed to let her family stay in two bedrooms at her house. But when she found out that they had been kicked out and had nowhere to go, she pulled the offer.

When the couple lost their home and couldn’t find a shelter where they and their kids could stay, they became very desperate. However, this was hard to do because many other families were also forced to leave their homes because of the pandemic.

It had been four months, and the family had to move into their van to stay warm. After some time, they were able to get a place in a homeless shelter, but the mother-in-law stayed away, which hurt her relationship with the husband and wife.

As things stood, the husband and wife couldn’t help but be angry at their mother-in-law, who had the chance to help them in their time of need. It was even worse because the husband’s sister made them feel bad when they asked to shower at her house, even though they offered to pay.

“Just because we were over 30, had three kids, and were having a hard time, we were treated like we were undesirable,” the wife said. That her sister-in-law could treat them so badly made her very angry and hurt. This was especially true since she had inherited the house from her late father and hadn’t paid taxes in five years.

The couple was determined not to let their tough situation get the best of them. They worked hard to make things better for their three young children.

They made things better in their lives.
In the end, they were able to start over by building a new house from scratch. It was possible for both the husband and wife to find steady work, and they also started their own business to make extra money. These steps should keep them from losing their housing again.

It made the husband and wife very proud that they had gone from living in their van to having stable finances, especially since they had done it all without their families’ help.

But, as the old proverb goes, what goes around comes around… Things went wrong for the mother-in-law not long after she knocked on the door of her son and daughter-in-law’s new home. But they still remembered how she had treated them.

Help was asked for by the mother-in-law.
The mother-in-law was in a tough spot because her work hours had been cut and she didn’t get any retirement benefits. She was also about to be kicked out of her home. She had gotten two eviction letters and a notice that her lease was ending.

She was in such a bad way that she asked her son and daughter-in-law if she could stay with them. When asked if she could stay, the wife said, “She came here yesterday afternoon.”

It was sad, but the wife couldn’t help but think it was funny that the same woman who had turned them away when they were homeless was now asking for help.

She is said to have told her mother-in-law, “There’s no chance that will happen,” which made her angry.

The woman turned to her son for help, but he chose to support his wife instead. He was angry that his mother had let her grandchildren live in a van for four months, and he didn’t want to help. She told them she would find them a place to stay, but when the time came, she left her family.

The wife’s mother left their house in tears, saying that the two events were “completely different.” She ran to her daughter and told her what had happened. Her daughter quickly called her brother to scold him for not helping their mother.

The daughter’s mother wanted to stay with her, but the daughter’s parents wouldn’t let her. The mother asked to go to a nursing home instead, but the parents chose not to give in.

It seemed harsh to their friends when they learned what had happened, but people on the internet are supporting the husband and wife.

I told SIL to take care of mommy dearest. “Seems like a fitting end for all of them,” someone wrote on Facebook.

“It’s not mean if your husband agrees with you. She picked not to assist you. Someone else said, “SIL can take her in.”
